Hello, my name is Jewell.

I too have faced my own health struggles rooted in a toxic relationship, chronic stress, and shift-work. I now understand that my adrenaline was high as if being constantly chased by a lion. Believe it or not, stress has the power to cause GI imbalances, hormonal disruption, and can prevent weight loss. This is precisely what happened to me. The metamorphosis comes when we are willing to see and ready for change. I believe optimal health is a journey, I too continue to walk the path of self-reflection and self-improvement daily.

I am a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and have practiced midwifery since 2007. As a midwife, I’ve welcomed babies in the home, birthing center, & hospital settings here in North Carolina.

I find pregnancy and birth to be magical and love every moment of caring for women during the childbearing years. Over the past few years I’ve discovered a budding interest in holistic women’s healthcare, coaching, and female empowerment. I am passionate about supporting women through transitions so they can flourish in their lives. I hope to be a calm presence, compassionately connect, and facilitate one’s own healing.

I access both the art and science of midwifery to offer a whole-woman, mind-body-spirit approach. My role will be to help identify the root cause of dis-ease. Dis-ease or disharmony will be uncovered by blending a detailed health history, menstrual cycle chart, physical exam, lab work, and diagnostic tests with clinical intuition. I will create an integrative health plan based on my findings. Together, we will implement remedies and lasting lifestyle changes so you flourish

As a child, I discovered a love for herbs while picking bouquets of the resilient dandelion. I didn’t know at the time that this bitter plant would become one of my many plant allies. When I told my family about my plan to become a midwife, they shared stories of my great-great grandmother who was also midwife and herbalist in the West Virginia Mountains. She traveled on horseback to serve her family and community while attending homebirths and treating women with botanicals. I’ve studied herbal medicine with many wise women including Aviva Romm, Tieraona Low Dog, and Tori Hudson. I routinely use botanical medicine in my care for women. I have completed a two-year Fellowship in Integrative Medicine through the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine (FAIHM). I am also in the process of becoming certified with the Institute of Functional Medicine (IFM). Additionally, I am board certified as an Advanced Practice Holistic Registered Nurse (APHRN-BC) through the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA).
